United Youth Aviators

Milton Davis Sr.

Born and raised in East New York, Brooklyn, as the eldest of three siblings, I had many obstacles as a young teen. I kept busy participating in Boy Scouts, where I earned the rank of Life Scout. With the strong values and morals from my mother and family members, I stayed in a positive direction. I always wanted to help people, especially in my community.
I am a 17 year veteran with the New York City Police Department, starting my career as a School Safety Agent, serving for 2 1/2 years then succeeding to position of Police Officer. In my 15 years as a Police Officer, I was in various units and now serve the Bedford-Stuyvesant community as a Youth Officer.
I have 2 children, a son and a daughter. In 2012 I founded Cub Scout Pack 1400, in 2016 I founded Boy Scout Troop 1400 and engage the youth in my community as a Scout leader with the Boy Scouts of America. In 2015, I was the BSA Breukelen District Activities Chair. I received The Spark Plug Award and The National Top 50 Cubmasters Recognition of Excellence Award from Boy Scouts of America, I also received the Man of Distinction Award, City Council Citation from 500 Men Making a Difference all in 2015. I received the Cubmaster Leadership Award of Merit in 2015, Scout Master Leadership Award of Merit in 2017 from the BSA, Nassau County Legislature Citation from the Foundation For A Drug Free World of Americas in 2017 and Drug Free Hero Awardee in 2018. I am still currently a Scout Master of Troop 1400 in Brooklyn, NY. I truly feel United Youth Aviators is a great opportunity to help expose youth to the wonders of flight.

Being raised in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn N.Y to a military mom was no easy task; my mom ensured I had structure and would walk a straight path. Despite growing up in a tough neighborhood, I associated with friends whom also had strong parental guidance. I played on my high school basketball team, and then later played Division 1 basketball at Long Island University. I achieved my Associates Degree from SUNY Farmingdale in Computer Science. Furthermore, I attained a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and a Masters Degree in Psychology from Long Island University.

I was 23 years old after my days of college and basketball, looking to enter the workforce. I am a 14 year veteran of the New York City Police Department, starting my career at age 24. Assigned to the School Unit for 11 years, I enforced discipline, mentored and helped the youth community of Bedford-Stuyvesant. Most recently, I was approached with the challenge of leading the 81st Precinct Community Council Summer Camp, where I became a New York State Certified Camp Director coordinating over 100 kids and more than 20 Youth Counselors; it was a great experience.

As a child, I always wanted to fly, however, there were no camps like this available in my area. As an adult, I decided to pursue my dream of flying by earning my Airmans Certificate (Private Pilot License) and recently earned my Federal Aviation Administration Certified Flight Instructor license (CFI). United Youth Aviators is a tremendous opportunity that will be afforded to children. I'm elated to be a part of this vision that will be great for our youth.
